Two Killed in Mason County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 near Purdy Creek
Mason County, Washington State (January 10, 2019) – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on a Mason County highway near Shelton, according to the authorities.
The fatal crash was reported at about 7:00 a.m. January 9, on Highway 101 near Purdy Creek.
Officials said a passenger car was traveling northbound on Highway 101 while a semi-truck was heading southbound. The car then crossed over the centerline for unknown reasons and directly into the path of the truck, resulting in a collision.
State troopers and paramedics responded to the scene.
Both occupants in the car were declared dead at the scene. The victims’ identities were not immediately disclosed.
The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the crash.
The car was heavily damaged in the crash.
Highway 101 was shut down for about 3 and a half hours following the crash. The highway has since been reopened.
The troopers are investigating the crash.
