Motorcyclist Killed in Collision in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, CA (April 23, 2018) – A motorcycle rider was killed after being involved in a head-on collision that occurred on Empire Grade Road near Smith Grade Road on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Santa Cruz.
According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling on Empire Grade Road along with a group of other motorcyclists. It was reported that for unexplained reasons the motorcyclist then veered into the oncoming lanes and collided with a Dodge Durango.
Moments before the collision occurred, the Durango attempted to avoid the motorcycle rider but was not successful.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The driver was not injured in the collision.
As a result of the collision, police closed down Empire Grade Road for several hours.
Authorities are investigating the fatal motorcycle accident.
