9 Pedestrians Hit and Injured by DUI Driver in Fullerton
FULLERTON (February 10, 2019) – Several were injured after being hit by an alleged DUI driver on Santa Fe Avenue early Sunday, according to The Orange County Register and NBC Los Angeles.
Police said 22-year-old Christopher Solis was driving a red Toyota Tacoma when he veered onto a sidewalk and ran into a crowd of people in the 100 block of West Santa Fe Avenue.
The Anaheim man then slammed into a tree nearby, causing severe front-end damage to his car. Three other vehicles were seen with minor to moderate after the accident at about 1:48 a.m.
As per the reports, a total of nine people were injured as a result of the collision. Some of the victims were pinned underneath the vehicle upon impact.
Suspect Christopher Solis, 22, Arrested For DUI
The patients, ages 18 to 49, suffered injuries ranging from moderate to critical degree. The wounded pedestrians were transported to the hospital and all were expected to survive.
Their names and condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Solis was driving under the influence of drugs at the time.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
He was Fullerton police said he is believed to have been driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
